Burton St. Community Peace Gardens

Lauri, a Burton St. Community Member, is working closely with other community
neighbors to design and install a Community Garden in our neighborhood. The
Garden will feature raised wooden beds that community members can tend to
through the seasons and a picnic area. The land owners Safi and B Love have
donated the land to a Community Garden as a reaction to the war in Iraq. They
are dedicated to a Community Garden that shares its excess produce to Elders
in the community, the Burton St Recreation Center Kids and those in need. We
hope that the Peace Gardens will serve as a inspiring model to other
neighborhoods that could benefit from a Community Garden.

Briana's Garden

Briana enjoys taking care of her Faery garden with its Faery Condo and Butterfly
Stable. She takes great joy in harvesting lettuce for her family's dinner and
spends hours investigating all the insects and their artifacts. It is a joy to watch!

The Urban Homestead

Mini Orchard, Water Catchment Ponds and Rain Catchment Cisterns to use for
garden irrigation, Blueberry Hedge, Berry Patch Hedge, ... Edible Landscaping
will bring you and your family closer to Nature and supplement your diet with
home grown goodness.

Judy's Privacy Screen

After a design consultation, I brought the privacy screen idea to Judy...she
mulled it over in her mind...we made the changes, and together we built it in one
day. Viva La Woman!

Diana's Backyard Oasis, Raliegh, NC

After meeting with the clients and visiting the site, the garden was designed and
installed in 2 days with lots of help from friends and family members of Diana's.
The backyard went from a sweet gum ball and dog poop haven to a beautiful
and inviting space that is welcoming to all, even the dog!

Barre Street Apartment Courtyard, Montpelier, VT

The owner of the apartments wanted to beautify her properties by replacing a
gravel parking area with a beautiful courtyard space. Some renters participated
in the planting process.




				COMMUNITY GARDEN PASSION Currently Farm Girl Garden Designs is working in cooperation with Bountiful Cities Project as a garden designer for several Community and Youth Garden Projects in Asheville, NC. These projects include garden designs for the Shiloh Community in South Asheville, Burton St. Community Recreation Center Youth Garden in West Asheville and Vance Elementary School in West Asheville. Lauri is also a consulting designer and helping neighbors install a Community Garden in her neighborhood called Burton St. Community Peace Gardens.
